Selank – 5mg (5 Vials)

History – What is the Selank Peptide?

People from all over the world suffer from protein malnourishment without realizing it, hence why peptides are such a necessity. Peptides contain the essential amino acids that our body needs to operate properly. Some amino acids can be found in natural sources such as the food that we consume, however other amino acids cannot be found in external natural resources, nor are they naturally produced in our system.  Therefore, we have to rely on peptides to nurture us back to health. All peptides augment certain bodily functions in the human body, and the Selank peptide specifically produces amino acids that produce both the adrenocorticotropic hormone and the melanocyte-stimulating hormone to fight anxiety. These hormones are naturally produced within the pituitary gland and released into the bloodstream to stimulate the release of cortisol from the adrenal gland. Selank is also categorized as a synthetic peptide that mimics tuftsin; a natural peptide in the body that relates to the immune system and improves molecular stability.

The Benefits of the Selank Peptide

Studies have shown that Selank contains no risk of addiction, withdrawal or other negative side effects that normally come with traditional additive or sedative treatments. While it is known for having an “anti-anxiety” reputation, it is also extremely beneficial for other conditions such as cognition, depression, memory, preventing weight gain and energy levels. Additionally, Selank can increase immunity by producing IL-6 proteins and interferons to battle infections. It can also stabilize enkephalins within the blood to impede stress responses and assist with brain damage recovery. Patients seeking natural remedies for cognitive functions or anxiety disorders will be able to find great relief with this peptide.

SelankSelank Peptide (Nootropic and Anxiolytic Peptide)

Selank is a synthetic analogue of the immunomodulatory peptide Tuftsin, and a heptapeptide with the sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro, chemical formula C33H57N11Oand molar mass 751.887 g·mol−1. Tuftsin is a tetrapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) located in the Fc-domain of the heavy chain of immunoglobulin G (residues 289-292). Tuftsin has an immunostimulatory effect. Both, Tuftsin and Selank have the ability to reduce anxiety and increase serotonin levels.

Selank was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics (Russian Academy of Sciences) in cooperation with the V.V. Zakusov Research Institute of Pharmacology (Russian Academy of Medical Sciences), along with another nootropic drug Semax.

What Are Nootropics and Anxiolytics

Nootropics are smart drugs and cognitive enhancers, supplements, that may improve cognitive function, particularly executive functions, memory, creativity, or motivation, in healthy individuals. An anxiolytic is a medication, that inhibits anxiety. This effect is in contrast to anxiogenic agents, which increase anxiety. Some recreational drugs such as alcohol induce anxiolysis initially; however, studies show that then many of these drugs are anxiogenic. Anxiolytic medications have been used for the treatment of anxiety disorder and its related psychological and physical symptoms. Light therapy and other interventions have also been found to have an anxiolytic effect.

Selank Modulates Expression of Interleukin-6

Interleukin 6 (IL-6) is an interleukin that acts as both a pro-inflammatory cytokine and an anti-inflammatory myokine. IL-6’s role as an anti-inflammatory myokine is mediated through its inhibitory effects on TNF-alpha and IL-1, and activation of IL-1ra and IL-10. There is some early evidence that IL-6 can be used as an inflammatory marker for severe COVID-19 infection with poor prognosis, in the context of the wider coronavirus pandemic.

Selank Inhibits Enkephalin Hydrolysis

Selank, as well as a related peptide drug, Semax, have been found to inhibit enzymes involved in the degradation of Enkephalins (it inhibits Enkephalin hydrolysis) and other endogenous regulatory peptides, and this action may be involved in their effects

History Of Selnak

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide with anxiolytic properties that was first developed in Russia in the 1980s. The peptide was initially designed as a potential treatment for anxiety and depression, and it was based on the structure of the neuropeptide tuftsin. Tuftsin is a naturally occurring tetrapeptide that is involved in the immune system and has been shown to have some anti-inflammatory effects.

Selank was created by modifying tuftsin to increase its stability and enhance its anxiolytic activity. The resulting peptide was found to have a number of potential therapeutic benefits, including reducing anxiety and improving cognitive function.

Selank was first patented in 1992 by the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, and it has since been studied extensively in both animal and human models. Research on Selank has shown that it can reduce anxiety and depression-like behaviors in rodents, and it may also have some potential as a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive disorders.

Selank is not currently approved for use in the United States, but it is available as a prescription medication in Russia and some other countries. It is typically administered as a nasal spray or injection, and it has a relatively short half-life in the body. While further research is needed to fully understand the potential therapeutic uses of Selank, it is an interesting and promising area of study in the field of neuropsychiatry.
